Question 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Social groups are normally generalised as stereotypes and stereotypes are always seen as negative and not positive. Representation means when people are being portrayed in a particular way. Our film was a urban youth drama which is normally represented in a negative way. If i think i back to TV drama and representation mise en scene can be be stereotyped because of what they are wearing for an example in our film the characters are wearing dark clothing and people may portray them in a negative way because of clothing. Also setting is important because if set in a certain area of London they can represent it as a negative way for an example like if we were to have shot the film in a block of flats in a run down area of south London that the film is ghetto, unsafe and dangerous.

The stereotypes used in honeytrap are view in a negative way because of the mise en scene and also because of camera angles this is because it was set in south London and south London has been portrayed as a bad area of London and is know for crime. Also the clothes that the characters wore showed that they may be in a gang and know to cause trouble.

Our media product represents young people and young adults, this is because it is aimed at them and they are mainly the type of social groups used in Youth drama and High school drama.
